Elisabetta's report on the Italian meeting (I)

Dear diary,
I want to tell you all about my experience in the Comenius meeting .
Sunday evening, 10th March
BIG DAY  ARRIVED, AT LAST!!!  I went to the main coach station in Pescara to get the French girl I was putting up for the week. I was so excited!!!! Finally their coach from Rome arrived , I looked for her and once found, my mum and I welcomed her and went back home. Her name is Alizée, she is a 15 year old girl who lives in Bordeaux, France. She is so sweet!  We immediately got on well and it seemed as if we had known for ages....

The following morning, Monday 11th my new friend and I went to school to meet all the other students  and teachers involved in the project. I met the Polish and French group together with my Italian school mates, of course!

All the participants introduced themselves and after the salutations of the Deputy Headmaster,  we were ready to start!

We had many activities together and what surprised me was that everybody did everything with enthusiasm, always smiling and without any fear: It definitely amazed me!

We looked at some students performing some scenes from Romeo and Juliet  which had been reinterpreted by them, then we had a tour of the school, a buffet and after that we listened to one of the French teachers, Mr. Pascal Sore, who gave us some useful information on moodle and some tips on how to work with it: I had the chance to learn something really interesting!

Then the foreign guests had an Italian class "How to survive in Pescara for a week".
At one we left school and in the afternoon we went to Pescara centre with our guests. We went to the sea (shame for the weather that wasn't very nice), over the bridge and also shopping.
In the evening we had dinner with my family at home (my mum prepared special dishes for our beloved guest!).

Tuesday the 12th we were eager to meet the Turkish delegation which had arrived Monday evening in Pescara. Both the Turkish teachers and students introduced themselves, then our Haedmaster  welcomed all and officially opened our week together.

After that, each delegation sang its national anthem and it was great fun! it was nice to hear different languages that I had never heard before.

Soon afterwards the Italian students presented our works on the project related to our school, city, region and some Romanesque monuments in our area.

Together with three other students of my form we danced some folk dances from Abruzzo and I was so worried and a bit ashamed at the very beginning, but we had great success! Everybody was invited to join us and we danced all together.

How amusing! To finish, some other Italian students involved us in a theatre class and we had lots of fun, too.

After the break for lunch, in the afternoon we met at the school auditorium once again and the students from Turkey, France and Poland presented their power point works they had prepared for the project. They were very interesting and I followed all with great care.
The last activity we had togeher was to sing a song made by many Italian artists after the terrible earthquake which took place in 2009 in L'Aquila and its province. It was a terrible event for our region and we still have in our mind and our eyes the disaster and the deep sorrow of those days. This song was thought in order to help and collect some money for reconstruction.
We left school at about 17:30. In the evening we all went to play bowling.
